The scope of work for the existing two story, 3000 s.f. home overlooking Mission Bay included a new design of the exterior. With the addition of 418 s.f., the master bedroom and entry were expanded on the upper level and the guest suite enlarged on the lower level. The design lifts the sunken existing entrance up to street level giving it more presence. A black adoquin stone wall anchors the front of the house and adds privacy to the new entry with its reflecting pool. A new sloped standing seam metal roof over the master bedroom allows clerestory windows above the existing flat roof for additional natural light into the bedroom. New decks were added at both levels at the back along with a sloped trellis screen and roof overhang. The existing back of the house is painted a dark chocolate color to recede behind the sloped trellis screen. As an accent to the bayside elevation composition, white lap siding is used on the walls at the upper corner room, replacing the existing dated diagonal siding. A gazebo with trellis screens continues the design of the main house.
